How Do You Do...BAMBOO!

Good morning Zutter friends, 

Pinky here with a fun book today, a Bamboo Spine Cover-Alls mini album!

When I found these I just fell head over heels for the amazing look. 

Let me share a quick tutorial on how I put this "Happy Day" album together. 

Step 1. Begin with 7X5.5 Bamboo Spine Cover-Alls book.

Using Clearsnap Smooch Spritz- spritz book all over, focusing steady spritz on spine. 

Step 2. Create your cover page & back cover page. To fit cover (Make 1/2" smaller).

One shown in photo. Trim paper to 7 1/4"X51/4". Trim second paper to 6"X4 3/4" adhere.

Stitch on sewing machine, add lace, stitch on machine. Repeat for back cover page. 

Step 3. Adhere cover pages to book cover- using strong adhesive. 

Step 4. Embellish cover as desired. 

For inside pages:

Step 5. Trim out several pages to desired size. 

Step 6. Using Zutter Bind-It-All punch out holes for O-Wires.

Step 7. Using insert page- punch out holes for O-Wire remember 

to use C-setting as shown in photo. 

Step 8. Using Zutter Wire Cutters- trim O-Wires.

Step 9. Flip insert page to front of pages, insert cut 1" O-Wire.

Step 10. Set Bind-It-All to 1" setting to accommodate 1" O-Wire. 

Press handle firmly. 

Step 11. Flip insert back over to back of pages. 

Step 12. Insert into Cover-All. 

When you are completed your book will look like this!

Ready for all those special memories and photographs, to be preserved for a lifetime.

A Summer Journey

Hello Friends! Heather here to share a great summer road trip mini album with you today that I made using my handy dandy Bind-it-All V2.0. I have been itching to go on a road trip this summer and wanted something that I could take with me as we travel to write down  notes or a fun memory, or add in some treasures that we find along the way. I had some left over paper from the Restoration line from Crate Paper and thought it would be perfect for this mini.

One of the reasons I absolutely love making mini albums is, I love having one trip, one event in a single book so that it doesn't get lost among the 50 or so pages in my 12x12 albums. Also, I get to add in tags, envelopes, hidden pockets for fun ephemera, and I love having more than just a few pictures on a page, I have a book packed with treasures from this great adventure.

Front Cover. I used 3/4" Brass O-Wires to bind this hefty book.

I added in some fun envelopes and made some custom folders out of paper
so that I could have a place to journal where it was a bit more hidden.

So go on a journey this summer, but don't forget to put that Bind-it-All to use before you go!

Love Letters and 10 Years

Hello friends, Heather here with a fun project I am so excited to share with you using a set of 5x7 acrylic covers  for a special keepsake book I created in celebration of 10 years of marriage with my handsome hubby. I have to start by saying I absolutely love using acrylic in my books. I will add an acrylic cover or page in whenever I can because I love the extra weight it gives and there is something fun about the translucence of the acrylic.


In honor of my anniversary, I was inspired to take a trip down memory lane, finding old pictures and notes that we have written over the years. I realized that I had yet to make a book that documented just our relationship and this was the perfect opportunity. I wanted to keep this book simple, yet still have the personal touches I love, like hidden pockets for love notes, and extra tags to journal on. Hope you enjoy my mini and the step by step instructions so that you can make one of your own.

Start out by punching 8 holes in the acrylic covers. Leave the
 protective film on the covers until you have finished punching to protect
from scratches or cracking.

Continue to punch 8 holes on all of the interior pages

Use 3/4" Black O-Wire to bind the book. Since the book is 1/2" thick
and I added the additional tags and pockets, 3/4" O-Wire is a great
size to allow the pages to turn freely.

Here is the front cover, a picture from our wedding on top
(yes, I am the one smashing cake on him while he was being very sweet,
I could have sworn he was going to do it!)
and a more recent picture underneath. The pictures are attatched on
the 1st page, and I added a die cut and bling to the acryclic

A Little Whimzee and a Sweet Mother's Day Mini

Hello Friends! Heather Mendenhall here with my first 2012-2013 Zutter Zister design team post. I have been over the moon excited  at having this amazing opportunity to share my love for paper crafting and creating fabulous mini albums with my Zutter products.


My journey into the scrappy world started when I had my daughter Hailey and realized that I wanted her to have more than a simple baby book that was half filled out; I wanted her to have beautiful albums that she would one day share with her own children. For many years it was a hobby, getting together for coffee and scrapping with the moms at preschool, until I started realizing that I wanted a challenge, to make unique albums that no one else had.

This past year I started to really put myself out in the crafting world and have been selling at craft fairs, launching my Etsy shop and blog, and attending conferences to grow my business and let others enjoy my paper crafting creations. I enjoy displaying my art and meeting other crafters and customers who are as excited as I am to take home an album, as I was to create it. I have always believed that handmade items are the most amazing gifts to give and receive, and I feel truly honored to be a part of the community of crafters and artists who live in this handmade world with me.

Today I am going to share a darling mini album that I made as a special order for Mother’s Day. I hope you enjoy and I look forward to creating with you this next year!

Paper Hearts...

Yes, Valentine's Day has passed but love can last the whole year! I created this mini for a private class I taught at an event for a group of sophisticated crafters who love all things elegant yet over the top--the bar was set high so this is the mini I created, full of details, trims, and more.

Really the sky is the limit with the types of items you can create as pages in your books using your Bind-It-All. Now that I have worked "behind the scenes" in the paper crafting industry I know that some of the pre-made albums and books you can purchase pre-bound, off the shelf have been in development for months if not YEARS! Imagine if you could see something hip, cool, and trendy and make a book out of it today, right now, this very moment! Well, that's why I love my Bind-It-All.

In October I attended Jennifer Jensen's class at Spark the Event and she had these square doilies in her class, folded into envelopes. I wanted them badly badly badly so I could make something from them but when I started searching online, the packs I found were just too wildly expensive. Imagine my surprise when I was in the local 99 Cent Only store, you know, the chain store with the purple logos, and there was an entire DISPLAY of square doilies!!!!! I bought them all -- teehee!

Immediately I came home, folded one of the doilies into an envelope, and punched it with my Bind It All. Here is the result:

Now, if I were to take this idea to "market" and have a company make this, you would not see it for a good 6-12 months! I just can't get over how awesome it is to be able to incorporate current trends into my books instantly.

Here are some other things I added to the book:

Coin envelopes always seem to be on clearance somewhere but the color is too yellow for alot of products. A light coating acrylic paint will tone them down before punching with the Bind-It-All.

Shipping tags are another great way to add to interest to your books!

And don't forget paper bags--this striped Valentine sack was a seasonal offering at Target. This is a great way to use up leftover party bags or just add a touch of "cute" to your books. I can guarantee no one else has a book just like mine :)

I hope this post causes you to look at flat items in your life as possible pages in mini books. And that you can have it all RIGHT NOW by using your Bind-It-All to handcraft custom books.

Create a handmade, apron-shaped mini album with Crate Paper's adorable Farmhouse paper collection and the Bind-It-All machine. Select a chipboard letter in class to customize the cover. We'll layer stickers, use vintage ephemera, and adorable buttons to set the warm, country tone in this album. Use it as a scrapbook or to hold recipes--the cover flips to the back to create an easel to stand the book up.

Please bring: Bind-It-All  if you have one, assorted dry adhesive or pva (no Zip Dry or water based glues please - they make the chipboard swell), scissors, paper trimmer, glue dots or hot glue.
