More Boo for your Binding!

It's Halloween....oooooh, so scary!  But oh so fun to scare up creative projects! A couple of the Original Zutter Zisters have been having a scary good time!

First up - Annette West - just recently transplanted from Saudi Arabia to Calgary, Canada.
Annette made this creepy crawly coffin with a - surprise! - mini book tucked inside.
Read what Annette had to say about this frightfully fun project:

"I made the coffin from chipboard, it was a breeze to use my Zutter Kutter to make the shapes and then covered it with all the bits and pieces I found at the Dollar Store – my first time in a country that loves to decorate for Halloween, I was amazed at all the fun stuff you can find!

I cut thin chipboard into coffin shapes for the covers and pages and then covered these with patterned papers. Made pockets for lots of tags and extra journaling on some of the pages and then decorated the owire with fibres, skulls and chains with dangly bits and a little glass bottle filled with shiny stuff."

Lea Sanders has made some spooktacular albums for this time of year (or as in the case of the Twilight projects - good for ANY time of year!) This Halloween album has such howling detailed goodness on the cover - with stickers, epoxy stickers and patterned papers from K & Company.  The inside pages carry on the patterns with ghosts, bats and witches!  Love the beautiful black owire binding too - nicely rounded owire - nothing scary there!
And Lea knows the way around a Twilight project!  These Cullen-themed goodies were made for a Facebook contest she hosted.  I am so envious of Lea's Twi-themed projects.  She used papers from Creative Imaginations, Basic Grey, and Teresa Collins, along with glittered alpha stickers from American Crafts.  The covered brads from Imaginisce sets the covers off nicely.  I take a bite of these any day!
So although today is Halloween....make sure you make some time to cherish the memories with a BOO-tiful project for yourself!

Happy Howling Halloween!

A Spooktacular Halloween Album!

Get ready for Halloween with a quick and easy Halloween book!! This little book is all ready for photos when Halloween comes!!

To create this book, I dug around in my big bin of plain mini books, and found one that I've had forever in my stash. It came with 2 covers (that are about 4.6x6.5) and the inside pages were an accordion album... I decorated the cover, and then Zuttered it, and also used the Bind-it-All to punch the inside (accordion) pages as well. I used lots of my die cuts (Sizzix for the ghosts, which are glitter paper and chipboard, and the cloud, and the Cricut for the "Halloween" title). I layered the pretty SEI papers for the cover, and for the inside, I used the Martha Drippy Goo punch to decorate the bottoms of the photo mats... I used the Zutter Bind-it-All  and Zutter 1" black OWires to put it all together!! A quick and easy project that's just waiting for me to take Halloween photos... I just love the embossing and glitter/foil on the patterned papers, I think they'll really make the photos stand out!

Here's a few photos from the inside of the book...

Hope you're ready for a Spooktacular Halloween!

Ravin' for Candy!

We love halloween in our house, especially all the goodies that go along with it. I wanted to make a treat container for our mantle this year and thought I would make it with acrylic so you could see all the treats inside.

To start I cut one of the Zutter Acrylic Covers into the sizes I wanted for the sides of the container. This can be any size you want and then cut one to fit the bottom of your container. Once you have all your pieces, punch them with the Bind-It-All and join them together using black cord or ribbon. Isn't it great?  And easy to create with the Zutter materials and of course, the Bind-it-All!

Then you can decorate the box however you like and fill it with your favorite treats. One of our favorites is Candy Corn. I also added a little accordion flower attached to a Starbucks stir stick sprayed with Glimmer Mist.

These treat containers can be used anytime of the year and filled with just about anything so let your imagination run wild!

Wedding album.....

I have always been a big fan of clear acrylic pages! And I really love the Zutter's Acrylic Covers. For this album I chose the 8x8 size to make this simple but elegant wedding album. To keep it simple I went with just photos, a few embellishments, and a rub on.
I created the cover by simply putting a flourish rub-on and a bling word directly onto the acrylic!
The bride's colors were orange and red so I chose tulle in those colors to "bind" the page. Zutter's Acrylic Covers are thin enough for you to use a heavy-duty hole punch to place your holes where you would like, or you could punch multiple holes with your Bind-it-All and thread with more ribbon (or bind with owire).

The inside pages are made of more acrylic and photos. I overlapped my photos from page to page so there was the same "white space" around the photos on each page.

I hope you will give some Zutter Acrylic a try in your next project!!

Come Carousal With Me!

Don't we all love colors? This project has been brewing in my mind for the longest time and I'm so thrilled that it's finally completed and I'm here to share the process with you!
Using the Zutter Spinner Album Kit, the pages were inked with different colors so that I can include pics of items that correspond with the colors in this album. My plan was to have this album serve as a form of inspiration from pictures taken over time. Some of the pages were also misted. As for the wooden base of the album, I covered it with gold ink to give it some shine. Now for the fun bit in creating the carousal top.
I like the fact that the album kit base is made of wood, which gives the entire project a firm structure. In order to have the carousal top, I used a wood drill to make a hole in the ball of the stand. This way, I could slot the "stem" of the carousal through it. Think of the carousal top as an umbrella.=)

Next up, roll a strip of paper to from a firm stick, which can be slotted into the drilled hole, as well as you carousal top. Right at the point where the stick meets the top, attach either sticky tape or in my case, a strip of paper coated with glue, and wind it tightly round the stick. This serves as a barrier to prevent the top from slipping. See the picture below for the details.
For the top, I traced the album base and extended the diamenter by another 2cm. Once you have cut out your circle, cut a slit right to the middle of the circle and attach both ends together. Remember the additional 2cm added? I cut slits into this band and folded each tab in to form the following:

To add a decorative touch to this edge, adhere a strip of decorative paper around it and embellish further with gemstones. This gives the top that whimsical element found on all carousals! Top it off with a flag and it's ready to go!

Now, instead of horses going round my carousal, I opted for what I had on hand - a butterfly punch, which I used on various pieces of cardstock. The butterflies added dimension to the project. To attach each butterfly to the corresponding tab, simply cut a strip of cardstock and attach one end to the butterfly and the other to the same colored tab. Each butterfly also had a gemstone added to it's wings for additional sparkle.

Additonal details in this project included having chipboard letters demarcate the start of each color tab and using the Bind-it-All to punch a hole in each tab, ribbons were affixed.

There you have it, your very own carousal! This project now sits prettily on my desk, a convenient location for me to place all my inspirational pictures and a reminder of the wonderful year I had as a Zutter Zister.

Thank you for being an ever faithful reader and I'm glad for this opportunity I had to work with all the wonderful products Zutter continues to create! I hope you will continue to have a much fun as I had with my BIA!

Feeling Fall-ish and Want To Create Something Pretty Darn Quick?

I have been working like a mad woman on wedding projects for my daughter's wedding.  I had some extra bits of fall foilage stuff hanging around, so I decided to do something un-weddingish and make a fall wall hanging for my dining room.

I grabbed one of the 8 x 10 Canvas Art Boards  (I still have one left since they come in sets of two, how great is that???) and punched 6 holes in the center top using my pink Bind-It-All.  Then I misted and embellished away.  I used the Distrezz-It-All to make quick work of distressing the edges of the kraft cardstock I used.  That Distrezz-It-All is GREAT!  You can distrezz as much or as lightly as you want and it is done in a jiffy.  I used a bit of the Antique Brass Owires  to top off the hanging, and threaded some lovely velvet corduroy ribbon through it.  This whole project took well under 30 minutes.  I love quick projects, especially when I really don't have time to create.  I find it is easier for me to squeeze in a wee bit of creative time when I create fast and fun things.  Since it is wedding central at my house right now, I definitely need fast and fun!  ;)

Here is a bit more of a close up ~

Grab some Canvas Art Board and create your own wall hanging!
Happy creating!  ~ Pam

Zutter Clear Acrylic Covers for a Layout!

I truly have a passon for anything that´s a clear thing!!!
So, when I laid eyes on the Zutter Clear acrylic Covers 9x9". I immediately said to my self, "it´s a clear layout waiting to be made."

It´s a photo of my daughter, I have used it a millon times, because I simply love this photo of her. I´ve used a piece of a book, and that's not my idea to use a book! I´ve spotted lots of creative artists who used it, so I can't take any credit for that genius idea.  The 9X9 Acrylic cover serves as the backdrop to the book.

I was cleaning in the picbox in my computer and found lots and lots of pictures of my daughter, from where she was baby up until now, so I made a 3X4 mini filled with pics of her and hung it on the perfect Hang-it-Alls.

The hole for the Hang-it-All was made using the rivet tools, its so easy to make the holes with it.
Here´s the mini and the 3x4" clear acrylic cover, with cute photos of my daughter bellydancing with my younger sister when we visited Egypt.  :) The front of the mini, I stamped with a variety of stamps with a waterproof stamping pad, and I added some pearls so the heart would be more visible to the eye. I simply love the acrylic covers - they come in a variety of sizes for any project!

Vintage Photo Frame Album....

I love scouring second-hand shops for things I can use in my scrapping projects and these vintage frames were one of my most recent finds. To make this album I used two of the frames. I simply cut the top and bottom flaps off and used the frames as my back and front covers. Some Owire and embellisments and .....voila! -- a cute little mini album with built-in frames! Just one more reason why I love my Bind-it-all so very much. You can create a project with some many different kind of materials!!

Happy creating with Zutter!
