Michelle Van Etten and I have added a second session of our fabulous new class, All About Flowers II, online at My Creative Classroom!! Class starts April 27th--don't miss out!
Here's all the info:

Flower divas Jennifer Priest and Michelle Van Etten will teach you how to create ethereal, romantic flowers using ribbon, textile, and paper. Save money and create custom flowers to perfectly compliment any project or any color combination. Michelle and Jennifer can show you how to make designer knock-offs and create stunning looks that are all your own. We'll create a technique book in class using the Zutter Spinner Album that you can add to in subsequent classes as well as show you numerous ways to use these flowers in your crafting.

By the end of the class series you will have filled the Spinner Album with nearly 75 unique handmade flowers!!! Even if you take just one class, you can keep adding your own flower creations to the Zutter Spinner Album to keep them handy as a technique reference guide.

Easter Treats with Zutter Acrylic

I love spring and all the lovely flowers blooming and sun shining. With spring also comes Easter and yummy goodies. I made this container from Zutter Acrylic for an adorable Easter present for my son's teacher.

I used the Zutter Acrylic Covers to form a container and punched the holes (easy as pie to punch with the Bind-it-All!)  and threaded them with twine to make the box.

Then I added some colored jellybeans and made some paper flowers in fun spring colors. Now you can make a container out of chipboard, cardboard, even Zutter's Clipboard Wood (if you wanted to paint or cover to match a particular decor).  But the acrylic is awesome for this type of project because you can showcase the colors you place in the container!  Can you just imagine the possibilities with this?

I think my son's teacher will love this.....I know it will be a great way to brighten up her day!

Nothing "Retiring" About this Book!

One of the nicest things about being able to make your own bound books is that you can create personalized projects for any ocassion.  I recently made this retirement book for a sweet co-worker, and was able to customize it to his personality (and allow for my artistic urges!)
I gave the project a bit of a travel theme with postcard die cuts for a touch of whimsy.  After all, now that he is retiring, he will be a man of leisure!  I added tags, tickets and clips to the cover for dimension and texture, but left lots of open space on the pages for him to add photos and journaling.
Remember, when layering multiple embellishments, ensure you have enough clearance for the punches or embellish the thicker items after punching the pages.  In general use owire that is 1/4-1/2" thicker in diameter than what you think your finished project will be.  For most crafters, the 3/4-1" diameter owire suits typical projects.  Going extra bulky?  Use the 1 1/4" size.

I used the Zutter Bind-it-All (of course!), 1” Antique Silver owire, and 8” Acrylic Covers. The paper and embellies are Little Yellow Bicycle, Making Memories, along with miscellaneous buttons and ribbon.  Note how punching the page edges make them just THAT much more "wow"!  Jazz up the book with tags and note cards that you can punch and add in where you wish!

Make a special book for someone (maybe you!) and share with us at our message board!

Baby Boy Banner Album with the Bind-it-All!

Banners are very popular in Scrapbooking right now and I really wanted to try my hand at making a banner shaped mini album. For the covers I used Zutter Canvas Artboard Covers and cut them into the banner shape.

Then for the inside pages I cut patterned paper to fit inside the covers. Once my mini album was shaped I just picked the best place to bind it which I thought was along the top so it would hang more like a banner. Isn't it cute?!?!?

The really great thing about the Bind-It-All is you can create mini albums in any shape and size. The only limit is your imagination.   Try a new shape and bind away!  And with this being the season of baby showers and spring time parties, now's the time to give it a whirl! Have fun.
