Perfect O's with Your Owire

See the survey over here to the left, a few clicks down???? The one that asks what people want to see in BIA videos? Not too many people are interested in owire....so that must be why I felt compelled to do a video about it! Poor owire! It's such an important part of your binding project, and I WANT you to love your OHwire!!! Once you master the art of making a perfect "O" you will be the envy of all your binding friends and will never again suffer the heartache of egg-shaped owire!

My daughter Franny is in a Brownie Girl Scout troop and for two years running I have been asked to conduct a scrapbooking project for the girls. This year the Try-It badge is for Caring & Sharing, which includes a scrapbook project as one of the elements. Franny and I put together the books in preparation for the meeting, and this video shows you how to get the perfect "O" in your owire! Franny is the perfect video co-star, dontcha think?

Leave a comment about how your owire binding has improved after watching this video (or just how funny Franny is when she says the owire looks "oh-ish") for a chance to win a box of new Antique Silver or Antique Brass owire - yes, TWO winners! Zutter is so excited about these new-exclusive owire colors.

We will draw two random winners on Cinco by Mayo (that's May 5th!!).

Franny is a natural Jennifer! Great video!

This video is brilliant! It made me realise why my rings are looking oval lately - it must have been a fluke the first few times I used my Zutter. On the right track now.
I love the project idea too - what a great little gift for a bunch of girls! I bet they'll love it.

I didn't realize that which way the smaller side faced made a difference. That is probably why my owires are oval looking.
thanks!!!

what a great tutorial, thanks so much for sharing, I don't have a bind it all YET, and I stress yet, but I pick up rings and share with a friend and now I have the perfect O too!

thanks for sharing!

XOXO

It's been a while since my last book, but the hint about the small side of the wire facing the 'zutter' was new and I noticed that the size card goes one way and the book the other way. Not 'O' related, but I love the way you have put 'journal' cards in--bound in the book. With small books like this you definitely run out of room so this was a great idea.

Can't wait to try and see if I can now get perfectly round wires! Thanks for the video. Cute projects.

Too cute! With each project now I will have to ask myself "is it oh-ish?"

Your video is TOO COOL! I sufferred from the "egg shaped" wire too...Thanks for the tips!

Loved seeing you team up with Franny to create that adorable scout project! And yes, I did learn something from the video - that seam tip was something I didn't quite understand before and I have had my zutter since they first came out! I L-O-V-E my Zutter and those antique "ooooo-wires" would find a loving home on one of my projects :)

Franny is adorable. Love this video - thank you so much! I didn't know to put the small part toward the Zutter... sigh. I also didn't realize I had to center the project on top while squeezing. BUT - now I know and can make the BEST books EVER!

I have so been struggling with this. Sometimes I have success, sometimes not! Thanks so much for posting this!

I'm getting perfect O's! Love this video - the tip about the small owires is soooo important! I put a label on my BIA to remind me that the small wires should face the logo. You should have seen my oval binding before - LOL!

I am SO glad that you posted this tutorial! It seems like I can never get them into perfect O's. And I love the tip about having the binding end on the inside of the book!

Franny was a GREAT helper!

Thank you! That video was so helpful. I've only owned my Bind It All for about a month and it's great to know that there is a small and large size and which needs to go towards the machine. It's also good to know about the indentation. I hadn't noticed that. This is definetely going to help me.

Franny did a great job! So cute!

I don't recall seeing a survey but this video was super helpful. I always have had my seam on the outside but now know the correct way to fix that. I also dont' think I knew which way to put the wire in to bind.

More of these 'basic' videos, please!

I just bought my zutter machine and stuff to play with last week. Man if a 6 year old can do it so can I. Awesome job Franny.

Anonymous said...

Okay...now I have no more excuses for being afraid of my machine...especially if a six year old can use it. It's the fear of ruining your papers/project after you've worked so hard to complete them and then punching holes in them...yikes! Great idea to start out by putting together the albums...then to decorate and this eliminates the binding fear. Great way to start...thanks! Roberta
