An Artsy Busy Book

       As a mom of two very busy (and talkative) kids I am always trying to find fun things for them to do during the summer, especially when we are in the car for any length of time. My 10 year old daughter loves drawing and being crafty and as she is getting a bit older she isn't quite as easily entertained with my singing or playing license plate bingo, so I came up with this mini artists book to help keep her content while in the car.

     I knew I wanted to have lots of sheets where she could draw, but also wanted her to have places where she could write down a memory, play a game and even do a bit of journaling. I also wanted this book to have enough pages and activites to last more than one trip, so this has 20 pages total, so I used the  1" White O-wire to bind this bad boy. I loved using the canvas art board on the cover and just giving it a light mist of purple smooch, it gives the book an artsy and whimzy feel, which I just love.

     I also love the idea of making this book as by the end of summer I have a sweet keepsake  of the things that kept my kiddos entertained during our summer adventures. Hope my step by step pictures inspire you to make your own artsy busy book this summer.

I started off with some 5x7 chipboard, a 5x7 Canvas Art Board, and a few
sheets of coordinating patterned paper and white cardstock. 

Attatch the patterned paper and cardstock to the chipboard and
then use your Bind-it-All to punch 8 holes in the top of each of the pages.

Feeling Beachy?

Hi everyone!  Nancy here today to share with you a fun mixed media wall hanging I made using my Zutter Bind-it-All, o-Wires, Canvas Artboard and lots of fun goodies from ClearSnap.

I love the texture and weight of the canvas art board.  It is the perfect weight for heavier items like these small shells.  I began these canvases by spritizing with a mixture of different colors of Smooch Spritz, allowing the colors to bleed into one another.  I then added a bit of gesso and finally a super cute embossed sun.  Did you know that Clearsnap makes scented embossing powders under the Color Box line?  This yellow smells like lemons.  So super fun on a project.

The Zutter canvas readily accepted the different mediums including inks, gesso, spray ink, stamps and embossing.

And the antique brass o-wires complimented my project perfectly.

I had a great time creating this wall hanging and I know you would have fun playing with the art board as well.

Hello everyone, Nicole here. Today I would like to share a fun piece of art I created for my craft room. I had so much fun playing with canvas, templates, and paint. As far as the mess involved, it was well worth it.

First, I altered a 5"X7" piece of canvas using a stencil and some Smooch ink. I used a plain marker for the title.

After I finished painting, I let the piece sit for about an hour to dry. Once dried, I popped the glass out from a 5"X7" frame and popped the 5"X7" canvas board behind the frame.

And here is my final project. I just love how this turned out. This really was an easy project and so much fun.

the cover of this fall album was created using 8 x 8 Canvas Art Board cut with the Zutter Kutter to create a gatefold....an off-center one at that!

Feeling Fall-ish and Want To Create Something Pretty Darn Quick?

I have been working like a mad woman on wedding projects for my daughter's wedding.  I had some extra bits of fall foilage stuff hanging around, so I decided to do something un-weddingish and make a fall wall hanging for my dining room. 

I grabbed one of the 8 x 10 Canvas Art Boards  (I still have one left since they come in sets of two, how great is that???) and punched 6 holes in the center top using my pink Bind-It-All.  Then I misted and embellished away.  I used the Distrezz-It-All to make quick work of distressing the edges of the kraft cardstock I used.  That Distrezz-It-All is GREAT!  You can distrezz as much or as lightly as you want and it is done in a jiffy.  I used a bit of the Antique Brass Owires  to top off the hanging, and threaded some lovely velvet corduroy ribbon through it.  This whole project took well under 30 minutes.  I love quick projects, especially when I really don't have time to create.  I find it is easier for me to squeeze in a wee bit of creative time when I create fast and fun things.  Since it is wedding central at my house right now, I definitely need fast and fun!  ;)
