Teacher's Cover-All Gifts

It's that time of year, when we honor the talented and dedicated people that teach our children. Here in the U.S. we honor educators during Teacher Appreciation Week! Want to make a gift that keeps on giving? How about a journal. Everyone can use one, to write lists, jot notes, keep track of favorite students......

I used to buy small ones at the office supply and then decorate the covers. The only down side? Well, what to do with the notebook after it's full or all the pages used? Throw it away? Yikes! Well, here's an answer. Decorate a Zutter Cover-All instead! Decorate a Cover-All and then slip a standard spiral notebook inside for a beautiful journal that can be used a lifetime!

Here's how:

Gather your materials. Here are the items I used to complete this project.

Tools:

• Zutter Bind-It-All
• Purple Cows 2in1 Trimmer
• Purple Cows #2810 Decorative Blade, #2811 Scoring Blade
• Making Memories Alpha Punch Set
• Paper Piercer
• Needles, various
• Scissors
• Fiskars Threading Water Border Punch

Supplies:

• Zutter 5.5”x7.5” Cover All: Craft
• Prima patterned paper
• Fabric, ribbon and lace trim scraps
• Seed Beads
• Copper
• DMC Floss, various colors
• Vintage Sheet Music, buttons, jewelry
• Stick pins, Beaded pins, needles, jump rings, paper clip
• Sewing kit, various pieces
• Ranger Distress and Alcohol Ink
• Miscellaneous stamps
• Miscellaneous 5”x7” spiral notebook

1. Stamp bird on cloth scrap. Sew this too another scrap, layer several more. Add lace, seed beads, buttons and ribbon. Sew where possible.

2. Punch border and add music sheet to Cover-All. Cut two strips of patterned paper, add to Cover-All.

3. Stamp word into copper. Distress with alcohol inks. Punch holes into Cover-All, add metal plate with brads.

4. Add cloth décor to Cover-All.

5. Decorate cover of generic spiral notebook with vintage paper. Add cloth strips, needles and pins. Add small scissors and tape with jump rings and paper clip to spiral. Add to inside of Cover-All.

6. Decorate inside front of Cover-All with stamped fabric, fabric, lace, buttons, stick pins, etc.

Now give away to your favorite teacher (final grades are coming up!!)    ;)  or keep for your self!

CHA Sneak Peek! Spinner Album Kit!

Take your custom binding projects for a SPIN!!!!This is one of the new products we are introducing at CHA this week in Anaheim. It’s so COOL for a lot of different reasons! But without further delay….this is the SPINNER ALBUM KIT!!

It is a completely customizable spinner album, on a completely customizable wooden spinning base. The album itself is bound together with the Bind-it-All, using the large 1 ¼” Owire, which fits over the dowel in the center. It is so fun to put together and has endless creative possibilities. Isn't it AWESOME!!?!?!? The kit comes with an unpainted wooden base with dowel, 10 - 4X4 tabbed chipboard pages, 10 - 4X4 square chipboard pages, 40 pages 4X4 white cardstock, and a length of Zutter Owire. YOU take it from there and make an album to suit a theme, room decor or your mood. What fun!!

Now, another reason why this is so cool is because this kit is based upon the winning project in the Zutter project contest by Vicki Flinchum, one of our current Zutter Zisters Bind-it-All Design Team members. Vicki entered the contest long before she was part of the DT. Her project won over the judges, selecting her as the grand prize winner of the contest, and her project (and four of her other projects) are featured in the upcoming Bind-it-All Around the World Idea book. The picture above is how it appears in the book. Now the Spinner Album Kit will be one of the new releases at CHA – AND her project is featured on the product packaging. We are so proud of Vicki and pleased to have her on the creative team!
