Zutter Joins the Smashbook Craze!

Welcome to Day Three of our Zutter Zummer blog special.  Today's Zutter Zister project comes from Camilla Isaksson of the beautiful country of Sweden! She's hopped on board the "smash book" craze - and brought her Bind-it-All along for the fun!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, I admit, at first, I didn´t really get the smash book thing...What is it? What´s all the fuss about!?
After a little investigating and playing, I totally get it, and I had to make my own.  A smash book is a totally fun, easy way of memory keeping.  It's basically a little scrapbook/journal on-the go.  No rules or "musts" to the content or design, you add your thoughts, ideas, memories, and notes along with simple embellishments and SMASH them all together!
So to make my own version of this fun idea, I used the Zutter Clear Acrylic Folder Tabs (7,5"x5") as a base for my smash. Then I cut out a lots, and lots of patterned paper. I put in homemade envelopes to store some tickets, diecuts and other things. The envelopes I made my self from a toturial that a swedish girl, called Ami made. See her envelope tutorial here (in Swedish...)  Envelope tutorial  Or, you can use the Scor-it-All Envelope Template and cut your own as well.
On the tabs, I put some sentences, like "just smash it" - but you could use other journaling prompts like "always remember", "for today" or whatever motivates you.
Here is the homemade envelope.
It´s easy to punch holes in the Zutter acrylic with the Bind-it-All - the Zutter acrylic is just the right thickness and flexibiity for the tool without damaging either.  You can  also make the holes in the acrylic with Rivet hole punch set and the Pound-it-All. (these tools are on sale, by the way! here)
The acrylic really puts a unique twist on the project!  Hope you make yourself a smashbook!
If I were to start a Smash Book this summer, i would put in it odds and ends from our summer travels - brochure from the park we camp at, maybe a leaf or two and a pressed flower; the name tag and other mementos from the family reuinion we're going to in a few weeks; receipts from my trip to see friends in the city; and lots of photos from experimenting with my new camera!
I would put in little reminders about all our summer adventures. I would also try to jot down some of the funny things my son says.
I would add all of our summer amusement park memories. We have been to four so far and we have had a blast.
AMAZING journal and right now my biggest memory of the summer isn't all that fun: having all four of my wisdom teeth pulled. Maybe I should put some teeth stickers in my smash journal.
Great idea! I think I will put all the activities we have done with our grandson this summer, from teaching him how to build and paint, to pool time and play-dates with his cousins!
This would be a great book with the envelopes to keep all the tickets, pamphlets and little trinkets you collect on vacations.
I am always writing random thoughts & memories on post-it notes or scraps of paper…sometimes when I am in the car the back of a receipt suffices:) The smash book would be the perfect solution for keeping my thoughts contained & wrangling the slips of paper I use if I don’t have it with me!
Most memorable from my summer thus far?...hmmm...learning how to play Frisbee golf & actually liking it. I suck at it, but it sure is fun. Plus my hubby lets me get away with “do overs”!!!
I take care of 2 of my 3 grand daughters, and I'm always trying to remember the funny things the 7 year old says. This would be the perfect way to jot them down & keep track of them for journaling later.
I think I'd put memorabilia from our Iowa trip and any daily fun activities we do this summer. Also some photos of my children as they grow so fast.
Great idea to make your own Smash book. I haven't gotten on the Smash band-wagon yet, but maybe I will now that I can use my BIA. Thanks for sharing!!! I would put all the tickets to the events that I take my kids to during the summer holidays (amusement parks, water parks, movies, etc.) along with the pictures of them.
These remind me of the old journal/scrapbooks we used to make in the 70's in high school. We would start with a small, simple hard cover spiral notebook and write, draw pictures, add stickers, tickets, any memorablia we picked up along the year. They were so much fun and sometimes a bit incriminating! LOL! At 55, my life isn't near as exciting but I would add my thoughts and memories for my kids to read.
I would like to put all the momentos of the most wonderful amazing 10 days I had this summer with my 2 grandsons; tickets from the carnival, pictures they drew for me, the funny things they said to the profound things out of their little mouths.
I would put bits and pieces of the fun things we do over the summer. From ice cream outings to flowers from the garden.
I would put photos of my guys in front of the festive Firework stands, picking out their favorite "crackers"... a few snaps from the 4th of July of them doing their thing and also the wrappers from the fireworks...yes, I saved some! I love the names and graphics on them, but I'm pretty sure they are NOT acid free and shouldn't go in my Scrapbook~ Smashbook: YES! I need the Distrezzer to grunge up the edges of my Smashbook! Thanks for the chance to win : )
