Zummer with the BIA, 4th of July, and Elf Slippers

It's Day 3 of another HOT week of Zutter Zummer.  We KNOW that July has passed, and it makes us a little sad that summer has flown by so fast.  But we can still relish the joys of summer celebrations....especially when you have this colorful mini album from OZZ DT Member Lea Sanders.  We always love Lea's bright, clean designs.  Enjoy her tips and make sure you check out the shopping special and giveaway below.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What screams hot summer fun more than Fourth of July weekend in Washington, D.C.? My family decided to visit the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in D.C. and then a quiet, casual cook-out with sparklers away from the bustling crowds. So casual in fact that my hubby was in p.j. pants and my son was wearing Christmas elf slippers!

I wanted a very sturdy cover for this project as I knew I would be adding a lot of embellishments and heavier items. The Clipboard wood was perfect. Don't be afraid to ink the Clipboard wood, it takes just time. I recommend rubbing it in until it dries before adhering any paper or embellishments.  With the Clipboard Wood, don't hold back on adding the fun trim, like the pom poms!  The wood won't buckle or give in to the extra weight.

So while your summer memories are still fresh, whip out your supplies and your Bind-it-All and secure the good times in an album that will last!

Supplies -
  • Zutter - 1 1/4" white O-wire, 8" Clipboard Wood Covers
  • Other: ClearScraps – tabbed chipboard, Creative Imaginations - patterned paper, cardstock stickers, Hot of the Press – patterned paper, Colorbok – patterned paper, Bazzill – textured cardstock, Cloud9 – foiled chipboard alpha, K&Company – embossed stickers, adhesive stars, Jolee’s Boutique – glittered foam stickers, Epiphany Crafts – epoxy bubble caps, pom  pom trim
Lea's album is made with Clipboard Wood....a sturdy, punchable cover material that's perfect for making albums that LAST!  Zutter also makes Chipboard, Acrylic and Canvas Artboard covers that provide a variety of surfaces and textures - all deliciously punchable with your Bind-it-All.  Each package of material contains two pieces - a front and back cover! Or mix and match materials - like Acrylic front cover and Clipboard Wood back cover!  So many options for creating binding perfection!

My 24/7 Days Bind-it-All Journal

Welcome to Day 2 of this hot Zummer!  Today's project is from Emeline Seet, OZZ DT Member from Singapore.  Em is a multi-talented crafter and her designs are often seen in scrapping publications all over the world.  It's a real treat to showcase one of her latest projects. Don't forget to check out the shopping special and giveaway below when you are done ooohing and ahhhing!

This Zutter Canvas Artboard was created with a theme in mind. You know, it is all to common to hear how time flies. Our days seem much shorter with so many things to tend to. Especially so for us women we wear so many hats:  at work, duty as a mom, duty as a partner, duty as a friend, and the list seems endless.

Yet, these are the moments that somehow define us and who we are. This journal provides a place for me to jot the daily (well, almost) routine as a stay-at-home mom. Realistically, my days as a 24/7 mom will come to an end when my children outgrow my lap. These moments are irreversible and I felt I needed to document these to remember how I survived through the early days as a mom.

Zutter's Canvas Art Board is appropriate. It allows me have the freedom to incorporate mist, distress inks, masking, gel mediums, texture paste.  It's easy to punch and has a beautiful texture for all the dimension I want to add.

The Zutter Zummer deal of the day includes two favorite Zutter products and both are on 50% clearance!  The customizable Spinner Album Kit and the handy album stand - the Display-it-All. You don't need a coupon code for either, so stock up on as many as you need of both!  We are down to the last quantities, so get 'em while you can!
A long time favorite of Zutter fans and crafters alike, the Spinner Album Kit, is an all-in-one kit that includes everything you need to create a customized spinning album. Comes with the wooden base and dowel, chipboard divider tabs and pages, as well as cardstock pages.  Regularly $24.99, now just $12.50 while supplies last.  Shop here for the Spinner Album Kit.

The Display-it-All is a metal stand (you assemble with easy instructions) that you can permanently (or not) hang your mini albums.  The metal can be painted, decoupaged, blinged how you wish to match your album or decor.  Get your mini albums out of the drawers and DISPLAY them like they deserve!  Regular: $7.99 - now just $3.99 while supplies last Shop here for Display-it-All.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello everyone!  Haaaaaaaaaaaappy Zutter Zummer!  We are deep into summer right now, since it is August.  I think of a lot of things when I think about summer, swimming, camping, the lake, our vegetable garden, canning pickles and salsa, and just being outside.  Summer is also a time when many college students have a break, and look for summer jobs.  We were fortunate enough where I work to have the most fabulous summer intern you could ever imagine.  She is smart, efficient, reliable, creative, caring, and compassionate, all good things when you work at a hospital.  I wanted to make her something special as a going away gift, so of course I thought of my Bind-It-All!  Easy peasy to make any type mini I could think of.  I also decided that since my family is moving this summer, it was time to dig into and use some of my stash.  Since McKenzie's favorite color is purple, I went with it.

I have to confess, I am somewhat of a packrat, and I looooooooooove to save things.  Time to create a summertime gift, and lighten my stash while I was at it.  The first thing I do when I am creating a mini is gather a LOT of papers, scraps, and odds and end embellies that all coordinate.  I love that creating my own mini means I can mix manufacturers and supplies with ease.  Here is a photo of my initial pile of "ingredients" ~

Next I went through my piles and cut out my bases and some large accent papers~
After I had my papers cut, I inked everything with a Colorbox Violet Cat's Eye Ink. Inking everything really helps tie your project together when you use assorted manufacturer products, and helps to create a cohesive look.  Next I began assembling my pages.  Some of my pages were folded to add interest (I used my Scor-It-All, it works BEAUTIFULLY!), some were strictly 8 x 8 squares. After my pages were put together, stitched and embellished as I wished, I punched everything with my Bind-It-All, then assembed my mini.  I used an 8x8 Bamboo Spine CoverAll (love those things, they look so neat and tidy, and hold a boatload of stuff inside).  I sprayed the white CoverAll with a sparkly purple mist, then embellished the cover, and added a Perfect Closure to hold it all together ~

Here are a few pics of the inside of the album ~
Don't forget to use your Round-It-All for creating perfect round corners in a second ~
I embellished a cardboard CD holder and put it on the next to last page.  I thought if McKenzie had some favorite photos or a CD of songs, she could store it in her Mini.  I left lots of space for her to journal and add bits of her favorite things, in addition to photos.  Hopefully she will like her mini, and thinks of her summer 2011 when she uses it.

If you have someone in need of a gift, don't forget to think about using your Bind-It-All to create a one of a kind special gift.  Dig through your stash too, it is a lot of fun.  :)
Happy creating! ~ Pam

Fun in the Sun with your Bind-it-All

I take way more pictures in the summer than at any other time during the year. That means I have way more pictures to scrap too! This year I made a summer mini album that had lots of pockets and folds so that I can add plenty of photos to it.

To start, I found some nice bright summery paper and started playing around with making some fold out pages.

This page has three folds and can hold a total of 6 photos on both sides. It ends up folding out like an accordian. When making fold out pages just make sure you leave a 1/4" gutter for the Bind-It-All to punch for the binding. You can simply fold it once or play around with multiple folds.

I then wanted to make some pocket pages to add some extra photos or journaling. These are super easy to make. All I did was use double sided sticky tape and adhere three sides of the pocket to the larger sheet.

The final page has lots of room for photos and journaling and makes a fun reminder of our summertime.

Take time out from YOUR fun in the sun, for a quickie mini for this summer's memories!
