Make a Butterfly with O-wire

In the past, some of my fellow Zisters have shared some pretty clever projects using owires. I'm not just talking about mini albums, journals, and books. I'm talking about place card holders, jewelry, house decor, etc.

Well, with some Imaginisce products and the "O" so versatile o-wire, I created a butterfly. Below is a video tutorial on how to make a butterfly of your own:

Cross Stitched Fabric Album

I LOVE making albums out of unconventional things. This little album is just that. I had found a bag of cross-stitch fabric at a local secondhand store when I envisioned a really cool album made out of these pieces! I wanted the album to have a homespun feel. Here is what I ended up with.

I cut 4 pieces of this cross-stitch fabric and sewed two pieces together to create a pocket. These pockets serve as my front and back cover for my album. Inside each pocket I used a piece of duck cloth and wrote on it.

The inside pages are made up of chipboard, clear plastic, modge podged pieces of old book pages, and photos.

One of the most incredible aspects of the Bind-it-All is that it allows you SO much creative freedom. I love being able to mix different kinds of media to make a one-of-a-kind album. I simply used my BIA on all my pages (even the cross-stitch fabric) and bound it with owires. Once you experiement with different elements and media you will love the expression of creativity that the Bind-it-all offers to you!

Make your album yours...make it unique.....make it you! Just think outside the box...go outside your comfort zone and create! YOU can do it!

Distrezz-it-All & Zutter Kutter

I love how other people's videos are up before our own! Ach!  I can't help it.  Mine need editing and I have had no time today. 

But thanks to Brittany Beattie at CK, we have these videos she shot the last day of CHA and are up already on the CK site.  I promise to have our own videos soon (with lots of silliness from DTers, fans, and the ladies who love our MnTs), but here's what we looked like in our booth.  If it looks a little hectic, it's because it was!

Now, you can cut chipboard and book board with ease....this is the Big Daddy of cutters.  Alex isn't bad either..... we love him!

New Corrugated Cardboard - Everyone Loves it!

Here are some samples of the projects that are similar to the Make 'n Take we did yesterday at CHA...using the NEW 13" X 13" Corrugated Cardboard from Zutter.  One of our new releases at the show  this year.  The size is extra large, to allow crafters lots of options for cutting it to size for various projects.  We cut the cardboard down to 6X6 to create this MnT. The "peel-ability" of the cardboard is excellent too.  The side of the cardboard that has slight ridges is extra easy to peel to reveal the corrugated texture beneath.  It's the cool texture that looks so great inked, or color-misted with sparkly stuff. It's a great shabby chic, antiquey look that is so "in" these days, and looks great by the way, with Zutter's Antique Brass and Antique Silver Owires.

This cardboard is sturdy but lightweight....it provides a new dimension and character to custom owire projects that is hard to achieve with standard chipboard.

See the butterflies on this cover?  Those are actually magnets that OZZ DTer Emeline sent me for the holidays...I love how they look for this Valentine book.  (thanks, Em).

CHA Make 'n Takes

I am in need of toothpicks to keep  my eyes propped open after Day 2 of the CHA Winter Show. We had a full day today. Above is a sneak of the little 3X4 mini Clip-Board Wood mini book we will be making tomorrow.  We are going to attach the metal bookplates with Zutter Rivets and setting tools, with the fabulous Pound-it-All must-have granite block. The patterned paper is Donna Salazar's new line, available at Product Performers (wholesale). The embellishments are from my stash (and aren't part of the MnT).

Our first day's MnT was this cute 3-panel Clip-Board Wood decor piece, using the new Hang-it-Alls and more of Donna's paper.  We showed attendees how to attached the hardware with the Rivet Setting tools. and everyone LOVED how easy it is to make cute hanging decor!

I will have pictures for you tomorrow of today's MnT - using the NEW Zutter Corrugated Cardboard, more of Donna's papers -- all amazingly distrezzed with the NEW Distrezz-it-All.  Now, THAT's what everyone is buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing about!

Ready for the World's Largest Crop Attempt Today

Ok, I am ready for my appearance later today at the World's Largest Crop Attempt in Anaheim.  I will be demo-ing a couple Zutter projects and giving out a little Zutter goodie bag to the first 50 people who come see me.

I will be showing you how to work the new Zutter Hang-it-Alls - the cute little embellishments to make awesome home decor...

And also show how to make a 5 minute Valentine mini book with Clipboard Wood.

Oh, and the goodie bag contains the beginnings to make this little book....(thanks to my daughter Marli for helping to bag them all up!)

Clowning Around!

There is a real challenge in creating something for another Crafter ... and we all know I LOVE a challenge! There is something special about making something for someone who looks at the detail and really appreciates the work you have put in! That is what I love about circle journals ... knowing that the time and effort I put in will be returned in the work that I receive.

If circle journals are new to you then basically you make a book ... decorate the covers ... add a few pages of your own work ... enough pages for all the contributors in your circle and then a sign-in section at the back ... you then forward the journal onto the next person in your circle and each month you get a new journal to work on ... depending on the number of people in your circle will decide when you get your original, completed book, in return.

This particular journal is a stamping Circle Journal ... so you also enclose a stamp for people to use on your pages ... How cool is that?

I decided on a clown stamp and designing my covers was a real joy with the Zutter Canvas Artboard Covers.

Note, with this particular style of Perfect Closure you can add customization to match the project. Here I added some Dymo labeling to the buckle.  You can also add in a tiny piece of your patterned paper or a coordinating cardstock to further coordinate with the project! No clowning!
