Cali '09 - Distrezzed & Misted!

The Artistic Paper Collection by Donna Salazar is like a blank canvas and I had so much fun misting and playing with the paper.

I wanted to make a unique mini for some of my favorite photos from California that never made it onto a layout and made this really fun mini album.

For each page I used different colors and techniques with the Glimmer Mists to make each page like a canvas for the photos.

When I was done playing I used the Distrezz-It-All to distress the pages and then I used the Bind-It-All to make the holes for the ribbon to bind it together.

An easy twist for a unique, creative...and quick mini album!

Fabulous Folds with the Scor-it-All

 The Scor-it-All by Zutter is a hot, must have tool in paper crafting. This scoring board gives paper crafters clean and crisp straight lines for folding sheets of paper into creative cards and gift wrappings.

 

Fun and Fabulous Folds is a 4-week online class featuring the Scor-it-All Board by Zutter, the makers of the Bind-it-All.

Class curriculum includes:

• Week 1: We will start with a brief overview of the scoring tool and then move on to
• different styles of greeting cards.
• Week 2: We will continue with more greeting cards, with a focus on pocket cards.
• Week 3: We will move on to creating envelopes and pockets. During this week, we
• will be using the Scor-It-All Envelope-It A2 template.
• Week 4: We will finish the class with boxes and bags.

The skill level for this class is Beginner but all skill levels are welcome to join the fun!

This class includes weekly downloadable PDF handouts as well as slide show

presentations.  No set time for the lessons - you view the course materials on your own time schedule, at your own pace!

Class instructor is Linda Dotterer.  Linda fell in love with paper over 10 years ago when she started scrapbooking. This love of paper has spilled over into other paper crafts. Linda has had over 50 projects published in a variety of magazines including Just Cards, Paper Crafts, and CardMaker. Linda was also a member of the first My Cute Stamps Design Team. In 2009, Linda became an instructor at My Creative Classroom so she could

share her love of paper with others.

Join Us for Art-Full Horizons

I'm putting on one of my other hats here to tell you about Art-Full Horizons. Last Fall, Donna Salazar (you know, the artist who designed the Distrezz-It-All), Laura Miller  (a superb retreat organizer), and I, by some cosmic force of fate, came together around a table at the back of a Chili's restaurant and hatched an idea over chips and salsa.

Art-Full Horizons was born. We talked about what we would like to see in a weekend scrapbooking/papercrafting event. What did we hear from others? What was already being done? And what wasn't? We left the restaurant that night with notes scribbled on paper and stuffed into our purses and pockets, minds whirling with possibilities, and smiles on our faces.

Zutter Corrugated Board Album!

I am so in love with these 5x7 Corrugated Boards from Zutter! They make great covers and pages for albums and that is just what I used them for in this project! First I tore parts of the covering off of the outside (cover pieces) of the board. Next, I painted them with some diluted white acrylic paint. When dry, I ran them through the amazing Distrezz-it-all to get that cool shabby look!

Now the fun part is putting your album together, adding your pages, paper, and embellishments!

What I really love about the cardboard pages is that you can hand sew right onto the board! That's what I did to make these cute flower stems and to create a border around a photo.

Art Journal Book for the Kiddies

Hello everybody!  How are you all doing?  Fab?  Super fab?  I hope so!  Today we are going to talk about a super quick and easy project you can make for young children.  It is a great project book to take in the car, or when you go out to eat, to the doctor or anywhere you need to keep young children quiet and amused.  I used one of the oh-so-fab 8 x 8 Zutter CoverAlls (the snazzy ones sized for the Zutter Pre-Punched Page Protectors) for the easy peasy cover of this album, as well as some colorful bits and pieces from my embellie stash.  Next I selected some of my fav Zutter Pre-Punched Page Protectors.  They make creating a BREEZE!  One of the things I love about these page protectors is how versatile they are. 

I created a little canvas page that can hold crayons, pencils, markers, or chalk.  Then I used my Pink Bind-It-All (otherwise known as the BIA Version 2.0!) to punch the canvas so it would fit in the book.

Next I used my BIA and punched holes in the "chalkboard fabric" I had glued to a Zutter Clip-Board Wood Cover (one piece, I saved the second piece for another project).

Then I put everything together and assembled them using 1 1/4" Antique Silver O'Wires.

I put the canvas page first, then the "chalkboard" fabric page second. 

Next I filled the page protectors with coloring pages I printed.  There are many free coloring page websites out there.  I selected these images from Better Homes and Gardens. 

Here are a few more pics of my filled page protectors.

I put 6 or so of each printed coloring page in each page protector.  Now my grandkids can either color the same page multiple times, or select several different pages.  Either way, it will be handy for coloring for many visits.  They can use the firm chalkboard as a base for their coloring pages, or  use chalk and draw on the chalkboard, or on their pages.  Whatever they are in the mood for!  I might even put some blank paper in there for them to create their own pictures to color.  This whole project took under one hour, including my printing time.  It can be used for years too, which is a great return of my time, don't you think???  ;)

Cruising Along - A Driving Album

One of the projects which the Beloved and I took before the arrival of our little bundle of joy was to get me my driver's license. Here Down Under, he could coach me and I only had to chalk up a certain number of hours before sitting for my test. One of the "momentos" from this journey (ha ha, pun totally intended!) were the plates attached to the car. As a result, I used them to be the covers for my album. I was glad that my Bind-it-All could easily punch through the plastic that these plates were made of. Now I bet you thought these license plates were metal.  These ones are NOT.  Although the BIA can punch through some metals, most license plate metal is too thick and can potentially damage your tool.  So look for thin craft metal, and if in doubt about metal materials, don't punch it. 

On my owires, I attached ribbons in the colors of the traffic light to add symbolism to the album.

On the inner pages, pictures of my thoughts and places we travelled to as part of my learning experience were added.

So there you have it, a simple and quick project using items you may want to keep to form the covers of your mini album. Have fun creating you own too!
